Paintball Guns, Supplies, and Equipment

GunsHere at polecatpaintball.com, we provide information to paintball enthusiasts about the guns and paintball supplies you will use in the sport. We do not endorse any particular methods, and are not affiliated with any companies that make paintball equipment.

Unlike some sports, where little equipment is needed, paintball requires every player to have a paintball gun and other paintball equipment. Much of this equipment is for safety purposes, and is required by any playing field or arena.

Paintball guns are often referred to as paintball markers. This is to take away as much violent connotation from the game as possible. Many people have tried to get the sport of paintball shut down because they feel it promotes violence. Germany actually banned it for a short time, but the public outcry was so great that they removed the ban within a matter of days.

While it is true that in this sport players have paintball “guns” and they run around trying to shoot other players to eliminate them, there is no evidence that players will turn violent because of this. Many players actually claim the physical exertion of the game is a great stress reliever and a pressure release of sorts.

Paintball is a recreational game, and one that promotes teamwork and cooperation within teams. This is one reason why it is used by the military for training purposes. Paintball associations often have to point out that it is only when safety rules and precautions are not followed that the sport falls under scrutiny.

Even though some people may not approve of it, the fact of the matter is that many people join the sport every year and love it.
Millions of people in the USA play paintball on a regular basis, and have no intention of giving it up.

If you want to try paintball, but you don’t want to invest in all the gear right away, look for a paintball arena of some sort in your area. You will be able to rent equipment here and try playing. If you can, find a paintball group that you can join and talk to about paintball equipment and playing.

Once you decide you like the sport, you can start to buy your own paintball equipment. When it comes to this, you don’t want to go too cheap on it. Buying super cheap stuff will increase your chances of something breaking. You don’t need to buy top-of-the-line competitive grade paintball markers and masks, but you want something that will hold up.

Probably one of the best things to do is talk to your paintball friends and see what they are using. If they will let you, see if you can borrow their guns for a game and try it out. This will give you the best idea of what you like. If you don’t have paintball friends, there are many different forums you can join and talk to other paintball players to get their opinions.

Along with your paintball marker, you will need to buy a paintball mask/paintball goggles. These are essentially the same thing. Some people just call them different things. The paintball mask will protect your entire face from being struck by a paintball.

You will also need to buy paintballs. If you are playing in a group or on a team, sometimes everyone will pitch in together and buy a large box of paintballs. This way everyone has plenty and they are all in one spot. Other players prefer to have their own signature color they use so they always know who they hit.

If you really get into the sport, you will want to look into getting a paintball gear bag. Since your paintball stuff can get pretty messy, and you may end up with a lot of it, you want a bag specifically for carrying it. You can also look into paintball pads, which cover sensitive areas and dull the pain of being shot.

Paintball team jerseys are also popular with groups that play paintball together on a regular basis. They help you not shoot your own team members.

Playing paintball is a blast, whether you are only participating occasionally, or you are competitive. Once you learn the rules and ropes of the game, you will have a wonderful time. Soon, you’ll just be biding your time until the next game.
