Paintball Marker

All paintball players carry a paintball marker. A paintball marker fires the paintball. When a target is struck by a paintball he is eliminated from the competition.

The word paintball marker is synonymous with paintball gun. However, paintball gun carries connotations of excessive violence, so the word marker is used instead. The term disassociates paintball from other sports like hunting which involve real guns and involve killing.

Players should have a barrel blocking device for their paintball markers. The barrel blocking device is like a safety on a gun. It prevents the paintball marker from accidentally firing while a player is off the field of play.
